Our Mission

The mission of the Vineyard Christian Community is to live interconnected as a family of Christ-followers who loves and worships God, grows in faith, and is equipped to share His love with our world.

Our Values

1)   Jesus is the center.

Jesus Christ is the Son of God; glorified by the Spirit and the focus of our attention. The Vineyard finds its foundation on Jesus the “Chief Cornerstone.” We are convinced that when “Jesus is lifted up, all people will be drawn to Him.”

“. . . at the name of Jesus, every knee will bow.”

—Phil. 2:10

2)  We embrace the Word of God – the Bible.

God’s Word is true and guides our choices in life; it is the authority on which we stand. We hold the Bible to be God’s actual words to us, through which He speaks today. We seek to actively listen to His word and daily apply it to our lives, individually, in small groups and as a collective gathering.

“Let the word of Christ richly dwell in you . . .”

—Col. 3:16

3)  We are created as worshippers.

Worship is to permeate all parts of life. As image bearers of Christ, and instruments of worship, we are created to reflect God’s nature and character in all of life.

“. . . whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”

—I Cor. 10:31

4)  We pursue community.

We engage each other through discipleship, gathered worship, and service. The Church is God’s vehicle for cultivating, maturing and caring for the needs of believers. Each of us commits to lives of grace and accountability as we together seek transformation into the image of Jesus.

“. . . you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God’s household….”

—Eph. 2:19

5)  We join God in the work of restoration.

Jesus brings healing to a broken creation – our homes and streets, the neighborhood, the university, our city and beyond. Jesus came and ministered to the lost and needy. His death and resurrection created the way to be reconciled to God. As His people, we are called to live out His love in words and actions.

“. . . to the extent that you did it to even the least of these, you did it to Me.”

—Matt. 25:40

Our Beliefs

We believe that the sixty-six canonical books of the Bible are the verbally inspired word of God, and therefore without error in the original writings. They constitute the only infallible authority for all matters of faith and practice.

We believe in one God, creator and preserver of all things, infinite and personal, omniscient and omnipotent, perfect in love and justice. Who is eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe that Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God, conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, in His life fully God and fully human.

We believe that God is present in the world today in the person of the Holy Spirit, who draws us to faith in Jesus Christ and dwells in all believers, empowering them to manifest the likeness and character of Christ.

We believe that man and women were created by God in His image; that they voluntarily chose to disobey God, and thereby incur temporal and eternal spiritual death, which is separation from God; and that as a result of that original sin all human beings are born with a sinful nature, and in the case of those who reach moral responsibility become sinners in thought, word, and in need of reconciliation with God and regeneration by His Spirit.

We believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins on the cross as a representative substituting sacrifice, and that all who place their faith in Him are justified on the ground of His shed blood.

We believe in the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, in His ascension into heaven, and in His present life there for us, as High Priest and advocate.

We believe in the personal, imminent return of Jesus Christ to earth to establish His righteous rule.

We believe that all who receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God, are kept by His power, and are thus placed in Christ forever.

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, the eternal blessed life of those made righteous in Christ and the eternal punishment of the unrighteous.
